There are different kinds of people that play basketball, and not all of them have desirable criminal histories. The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) is reportedly taking steps in order to filter the pool of talent entering their league.

According to Shams Charania, the aggressive stance will be making plenty of basketball players ineligible to play in the world's biggest basketball market.

From a logical standpoint, it's understandable why the CBA is making such a move. Basketball is a big sport in the country. NBA players that make the trip to the country to play basketball are usually treated like royalty by fans whenever they arrive.

Stephon Marbury and Jimmer Fredette are two shining examples of how Chinese hoops fans treat American players. They get to dominate the games due to the level of competition. Jeremy Lin will soon join the list of ex-NBA players finding success in China.

However, the Chinese game is denying itself of access to talented players who have problematic criminal histories. There are plenty of quality players with criminal cases.

Some of the players the CBA will be missing out on will include Blake Griffin, Darren Collison, Draymond Green, the Morris twins, Kyle Lowry, Iman Shumpert, Kenneth Faried, Michael Beasley, and Carmelo Anthony.

Moreover, DeMarcus Cousins will soon be ineligible due to a warrant for misdemeanor domestic violence. From a basketball standpoint, they will be losing more than they will be gaining as these players could change the fate of their teams.

However, the logical hoops fan will understand why such a ruling was established.
