The Team USA men's basketball team took home the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics after a rough start during their exhibitions games in Las Vegas. Despite a roster full of NBA talent, they struggled early, but Gregg Popovich's team bounced back to once again win the gold in the Olympics.

After the victory, the Team USA head coach had an honest message after taking home the crown.

Classic Gregg Popovich here. Early on, it appeared that this talented squad with a ton of NBA All-Stars was going to end up disappointing on the national stage.

But, they figured it out, and Popovich and Team USA proved everybody wrong after the early difficulties with the squad. COVID-19 issues sent a few players home, and Kevin Love withdrew, leading them to dig in and find other NBA talent to replace those guys.

Either way, they figured it out and won it all in Tokyo, continuing their streak of victories in the Olympic Games. Popovich has never been one to hold back anything, and his interviews as head coach for the San Antonio Spurs are some of the best ever.

Why anybody doubted Team USA to begin with is surprising, especially with all the NBA talent headlining the roster. From Kevin Durant to Damian Lillard, and three players fresh off an NBA Finals run, this team was way too talented to walk home with anything other than gold.
