Lance Stephenson might be aware that, according to reporting from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the NBA is considering expanding the roster of each NBA team due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns. Each roster would expand to 18 players, with the 18th player being a third two-way contract.

One player who seems quite interested in that idea is former wing Lance Stephenson, the endlessly entertaining on-court troll who once blew in the ear of LeBron James in the Eastern Conference Finals, leading to a rueful smile from James, as well as a timeless GIF.

Here were Lance Stephenson’s thoughts on the matter:

As you can see, Lance Stephenson wants the rosters to expand as soon as possible so that the veteran players without a roster spot can make their way onto teams.

Clearly, the 30-year-old wing believes he will be one such player, though there are many young players that would likely want to nab a roster spot before Lance Stephenson does.

Lance Stephenson has played for seven different NBA teams over the course of his nine-year career, and he last played in the league in the 2018-19 season when he was a member of the entertaining but ultimately uninspiring “Meme Team” Los Angeles Lakers that included Stephenson, Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee and Michael Beasley.

After the Lakers, Lance Stephenson signed a one-year deal with the Liaoning Flying Leopards in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Lance Stephenson’s best NBA season came in 2013-14 with the Pacers, when he started all 78 games he appeared in and put up 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in 35.3 minutes per contest.

The NBA is wrestling with the complexities of COVID-19 in a structure far removed from the Orlando bubble. Players did not like the bubble but were willing to deal with it for roughly three months, given that the NBA was finishing the regular season with a small number of games before moving straight into the playoffs. Lance Stephenson is aware that this season — with normal travel to arenas — offers a different dynamic, and one which has led to an increasing number of game postponements.
