There will be a lot of firsts during Thursday's 2022 NBA Draft. 60 young men will see their NBA dreams come to fruition in a night that they will never forget.
Another piece of history that is about to be made on Thursday centers around ESPN broadcaster Malika Andrews. The 27-year-old will have the honor of hosting the festivities, which incidentally, is going to be the first time in history that a woman hosts this momentous occasion (h/t NBA Retweet on Twitter):
Malika Andrews has been making quite an impact in the world of broadcasting of late. Last year, she was promoted as the host of ESPN's daily NBA show, NBA Today. The show replaced The Jump, which was previously hosted by ex-ESPN anchor Rachel Nichols.
Andrews was also a prominent figure for the network during the playoffs and the NBA Finals. Being named as the host of the 2022 NBA Draft is her latest notable achievement, and there's no denying that it is much-deserved for Andrews.
There have been more than a few female broadcasters that have made their mark in the sports broadcasting industry prior to Andrews. However, there's no denying that Malika has emerged as a true trailblazer in her field.
