New York Knicks swingman Kevin Knox and Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic have been named the Kia NBA Rookies of the Month of December.

Kevin Knox averaged 17.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists for the Knicks in December, while Luka Doncic put up 21.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists for the Mavs.

Luka Doncic is arguably the front-runner for the Rookie of the Year award. The 19-year-old is averaging 19.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 36 games for Dallas and shooting 43.6 percent overall, 37.6 percent from beyond the arc and 76.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Doncic has recorded six double-doubles on the season, leads all rookies in points per game and is second in assists per game, trailing only Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young. The Mavs are 18-19 on the season, good for 10th place in the Western Conference standings.

The Knicks, meanwhile, are once again going to be a lottery team, but Kevin Knox has been one bright spot. The 6-foot-9 scoring forward is putting up 12.2 points and 4.3 rebounds in 31 games while shooting 37.7 percent from the floor, 35.9 percent from the 3-point line and 66.3 percent from the foul line.

Knox is seventh among rookies in points per game. New York is 9-29 on the year, 14th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
