After taking a year off from the Christmas Day jerseys, Nike and the NBA will be bringing them back this year, but they won't really be Christmas jersey's after all, more of an extra alternative uniform.

According to Paul Lukas of Uni Watch:

Instead of the 10 teams who play on Christmas Day, it will now be the [previous season’s] 16 playoff teams that get the additional uniforms. They’ll debut, I believe, if the team plays on Dec. 25, but they will also be able to wear them whenever they want after that. I’ve seen 14 of the 16 jerseys — all except the Pacers and Jazz. Those two teams won’t be available at retail till February ’19 however.

That a big change from what Lukas had previously reported. It was assumed before that the 10 teams playing on Christmas day would get the uniforms, but only the home team would actually wear them on Christmas. The other teams would get to wear them for one game at a later date.

With this new idea by Nike though, the jersey's will actually just turn into another alternative, that the teams can choose to wear at any point after Christmas.

This seems like an odd approach because a team like the Los Angeles Lakers, who will probably play on Christmas, wouldn't have a different uniform to wear on that day. If the NBA was deciding to just use playoff teams on December 25th, that would make a little more sense why they are setting it up this way.
