BetOnline.ag has released the latest odds on the next head coach to be fired in the NBA.
Tom Thibodeau — +300
Billy Donovan — +200
Scott Brooks — +250
Fred Hoiberg — +400
Luke Walton — +450
With Tyronn Lue fired by the Cleveland Cavaliers this past weekend, these odds seem to be pretty spot on with Donovan as the next favorite to be fired.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are off to a slow start with a record of 1-4. With a team that has Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Steven Adams, it is not expected for this team to be struggling like this, though Westbrook did miss the first two games.
As for Brooks, this is pretty reasonable as well. The Washington Wizards are expected to compete and make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. They're off to a 1-5 start and have suffered some ugly losses, complete with players calling out others. This is just unacceptable for a team with John Wall and Bradley Beal.
For Thibodeau, it is somewhat surprising he isn't the odds-on favorite here, especially with the situation going on with Jimmy Butler. Thibs has been getting booed by the home crowd this season, and he could find himself out of a job if the Minnesota Timberwolves struggle and there's no resolution to the Butler situation.
As far as Hoiberg and Walton, they're in interesting spots. Hoiberg is dealing with a young but injured Chicago Bulls squad, while Walton is trying to coach up a Los Angeles Lakers roster with LeBron James and a unique cast of characters. Both of these teams are 2-5 to start the year, and if LeBron loses his patience, Walton may find himself out of a job.
