As the Rudy Gobert takes over the NBA headlines in the last couple of hours, Stephen A. Smith made sure to give credit to one person who put on a free agency reporting masterclass: Brian Windhorst.

Before the Minnesota Timberwolves traded for Gobert and sent a flurry of assets to the Utah Jazz in exchange–including four first-round picks and a pick swap–Windhorst had an epic rant on ESPN's First Take as he wondered about the Jazz's recent moves.

First and foremost, the ESPN NBA insider highlighted how he found the Royce O'Neal trade to the Brooklyn Nets “very strange,” noting that it didn't make sense for the Jazz to do the move. He then went on to point out that Danny Ainge is with Utah–the same exec who pulled off one of the biggest robberies of the past decade when he sent two aging stars in Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Nets for a massive haul of picks.

Simply put, Windhorst speculated that a trade of such nature could come. While he was largely mocked for his remarks, he has now turned into a genius for his take following that Gobert deal (which had the NBA Twitterverse losing its mind).

For his part, Stephen A. Smith gave a shoutout to his fellow ESPN commentator and analyst for that incredible reporting and Nostradamus-like prediction.

Brian Windorst is now running the NBA, folks!
