Former NBA player and seasoned social activist Stephen Jackson doubled down on his stance to defend Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson. The wideout had posted “offensive, harmful and absolutely appalling” comments falsely attributed to Adolf Hitler and in admiration for Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan in social media, something the team promised to punish with “appropriate action,” according to ESPN.

DeSean's anti-semitic comments saw ire from high up the ranks, as owner Jeffrey Lurie and general manager Howie Roseman are both of Jewish descent.

The wideout's since-deleted post read: “The Jews will blackmail America. (They) will extort America, their plan for world domination won’t work if the Negroes know who they were.” This quote was quickly debunked as an Internet meme shortly after.

DeSean Jackson apologized in an ensuing tweet:

“Anyone who feels I have hate towards the Jewish community took my post the wrong way,” Jackson wrote. “I have no hatred in my heart toward no one!! Equality. Equality.”

Meanwhile, Stephen Jackson, went to bat for his homonymous counterpart to say “he's speaking the truth”, only to do so again on Wednesday during another Instagram Live session:

Via Fred Katz of The Athletic:

“In other words, you’re upset with me because I didn’t say what you wanted me to say.” said Stephen Jackson.

“The point is, you did not just say to me that Jews are not trying to divide the black community,” his Instagram guest responded. “You know that for a fact?… you know who the Rothschilds are? They own all the banks.”

“I haven’t said one thing that’s untrue yet,” added the former NBA talent.

As Katz made sure to include in his reporting, what DeSean Jackson said in his tweet is simply not true. Not only did the quote not come from Hitler, but it was generated as propaganda that has been perpetuating anti-semitism for a very long time.

Stephen Jackson, who said “f*** Hitler” a few times during the IG Live session has at times blindly jumped to defend other Black athletes, but no matter how ignorant DeSean Jackson's mistake was, it was still a mistake that hurt people who were wrongly accused.
