Vince Carter plans to return for a 22nd season in the NBA, he announced on the Winging It podcast on Tuesday.

Carter is coming off playing the 2018-19 season as a veteran mentor for the Atlanta Hawks, showing flashes of the elixir of youth throughout the course of the season.

The former dunk champion put it simply, saying:

“I'm coming back.”

“I would like to,” Carter added. “We'll see what happens.”

Carter signed a one-year deal with the Hawks and will be a free agent by the time July 1 hits. The 42-year-old made the veteran's minimum salary of $2.4 million this past season.

He previously wrote a diary entry with Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated in April 2018, saying he was “90 percent” sure the 2018-19 season would be his last, though he mentioned on ESPN's Pardon The Interruption in March that he may have one more year left in the tank. Carter is 23rd on the NBA's all-time scoring list with 25,430 points throughout his 21 seasons in the league after playing for eight different teams: the Toronto Raptors, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and most recently the Hawks.

The NBA's oldest player had a bounce-back year after posting a career-worst 5.4 points per game with the Kings in 2017-18, upping that to 7.4 points per game through 76 games with the Hawks, showing there's still some more he can give to the game with his experience and passion for basketball.
