The NBA regular season continues with games on Monday. The Sacramento Kings will hit the road and take on the New York Knicks. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Kings-Knicks prediction and pick.

These two teams have had somewhat similar starts to the season. The Sacramento Kings are 18-33 and have lost their last six games. While the New York Knicks are 23-27 and have lost their last three matches. This should be an interesting game between two teams that have been struggling all season.

Why The Kings Could Cover The Spread

The Sacramento Kings have not had a good year. Like every team, they have had to deal with injuries and adversity, but Sacramento have not been able to persevere. Through the first half of the season, the Kings have only managed to win 18 games and have lost 33. Sacramento is coming off six straight losses, with their most recent defeat coming at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers by two. The Kings actually played a great game against Philly, but they just came up short. Now the Kings are battling with more injuries, but if they are able to mimic that performance, then they could easily pull off this upset.

If just one or two more possessions went Sacramento's way then they would have come out ahead against Philly. The Kings did a good job of forcing the Sixers to step up, but they just weren't able to close. Sacramento took 12 more shots than Philadelphia, but both teams made the same number of shots. The Kings lack of efficiency allowed for Philadelphia to make up for their lack of volume. Rather than exploiting the Sixers' shortcomings, the Kings allowed them to make up for the mistake. With that said, the Kings played a solid game and if they can play like that on Monday they should be able to beat the Knicks.

The biggest roadblock for Sacramento right now is injuries. While the Kings only have three players currently listed on their injury report, two of those players are key contributors. Both De'Aron Fox and Marvin Bagley are on the list, with the former marked as questionable and the latter deemed out for Monday's contest. If neither of these guys play that would be a huge blow to the Kings' chances at winning.

Why The Knicks Could Cover The Spread

The New York Knicks continue to disappoint fans as they struggle to win games. Through the first half of the season the Knicks have a losing record with 23 wins and 27 losses. While they may have a better record than the Kings, it's not by much. The Knicks are coming off three straight losses, with their most recent loss coming against the Milwaukee Bucks by 15. Many people held out hope for the Knicks at the beginning of this season, but that hope has dwindled. New York does have a chance at winning on Monday as they face a lesser opponent, but they will need to step things up.

Perhaps the most glaring shortcoming of this Knicks team in their loss to Milwaukee was their horrible free throw shooting. New York did a good job of getting to the line, as they took 28 free throws in that game. However, they struggled to convert from the stripe, knocking down only 16 of their attempts or only 57%. The Knicks actually managed to keep pace with Milwaukee across most metrics, but their abysmal free throw shooting anchored the rest of their performance. If the Knicks want to start winning they need to take advantage of all their opportunities.

One positive for New York is that they are mostly healthy. The Knicks currently have only three players listed on their injury report. Of those three only one, Nerlens Noel, is listed as questionable for Monday's match. Regardless of whether or not he plays, the Knicks will have their key roster members available. So whether they are competitive or not, at least the Knicks will be able to put their best players on the court.

Final Kings-Knicks Prediction & Pick

This is not an easy pick. If De'Aron Fox plays, this game could definitely end up going to Sacramento. The Kings looked good against the Sixers, and were able to make that game very close without Fox. If Fox was playing then the Kings would be an easy pick, but even without him they have managed to be competitive. Sacramento has a deep roster and could steal this one. Given that the spread is so wide and that betting on the Knicks never seems right, side with Sacramento. Pick the Kings to cover.
