The Cleveland Cavaliers were unable to find a trade partner for Andre Drummond before the trade deadline. For that reason, the front office has elected to buy out his contract, making him a free agent. Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reports Drummond will speak with the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics and Charlotte Hornets.

Interestingly, Haynes doesn't list the Brooklyn Nets, who have long been rumored as a potential Drummond destination. Even more interestingly, Haynes did mention the Nets in passing during a hit on TNT, but he still highlighted the same five teams as listed above:

Andre Drummond is an old-school center because he plays most of his game down low in the paint. He's an elite rebounder and solid defender when engaged. He averaged 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks with the Cavs this season before he was placed on the bench before the deadline as the team tried to find a trade.

While the Nets could still be a potential destination for Drummond, perhaps the recent acquisition of Blake Griffin is playing a role in them not being on this five-team list. Drummond is looking for a clear role and playing time, and Brooklyn does have Griffin and DeAndre Jordan in place in the frontcourt. Maybe the fit just isn't right for either party.

At the end of the day, Andre Drummond might not be playing for Brooklyn this year, but he still has plenty of suitors. It just depends on what Drummond is looking for. If he wants a championship, his best bet is to sign with one of the Los Angeles teams, but there are likely multiple factors at play here as he also looks ahead to his free agency after this season.
