An odd-looking tomato has recently made its rounds on social media for having an uncanny resemblance with Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird. The viral tomato was recently shown during a recent broadcast, and for his part, former coach and current NBA analyst Jeff Van Gundy seemed to be abhorred by the image.

In all fairness, the tomato does look a lot like Larry Bird, but Van Gundy hit the nail in the head here when he described this whole thing as disrespectful. Bird is one of the greatest players of all time — not only in Celtics franchise history but in the entire sport as well — and it just isn't right that he is being juxtaposed to a tomato. Then again, it is pretty hilarious, and unless Bird takes offense, then this should all be in good fun.
It's also hard not to laugh at Van Gundy's reaction. Initially, he did not know what to make of a tomato being shown on the broadcast. He was then left speechless for a couple of seconds once he realized what was going on, and could not seem to believe that people actually compared the tomato to the Larry Bird. Van Gundy usually has something (or a lot) to say about anything basketball-related, but he was certainly taken aback by this absurdly confusing tomato.
One final thing before we end this fruitful discussion: did we already say that the tomato really, really looks like Bird the more you look at it?
