Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker dealt with a nagging left knee injury for most of the 2019-20 season. President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge and the medical staff in Boston were very careful with Walker's minutes since the franchise didn't want to jeopardize the All-Star's long-term health.
Most Celtics fans assumed Walker would be 100 percent for the start of training camp in preparation for the 2020-21 season. However, Ainge sort of gave a cryptic response to Boston reporters when he was asked about Walker's knee, via Jared Weiss of The Athletic.
Ainge says he doesnât know the answer to whether Kemba Walkerâs knee will be healthy to return for the start of training camp in three weeks. But he says whenever that is, âwe have to put Kembaâs health as our number one priority. We have three more years with Kemba, at least.â

Kemba Walker appeared in 56 games for the Celtics in 2019-20. He averaged 20.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists a night while shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from beyond the arc and 86.4 percent from the free throw line.
During the 2020 playoffs at Walt Disney World, where the Celtics lost to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals in six games, Walker put up 19.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 17 games against the Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors and Heat. The former Charlotte Hornets star shot 44.1 percent overall and 31.0 percent from the 3-point line.
It has to be a little concerning for Celtics fans that Danny Ainge isn't ready to call Walker 100 percent yet. With the 2020-21 season set to start on Dec. 22, Walker's knee is going to be put to the test soon. The four-time All-Star has to play at a high level in 2020-21 if the Celtics want to get back to the conference finals.
