If Doc Rivers needed to win a game for his life, he would pick the 2008 Boston Celtics squad.

According to Jay King of The Athletic, Rivers reminisced on the team which he guided to a championship ring:

The team was comprised of Hall-of-Fame legends Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen — tagged as the first modern-day big three. When their trio was created, it immediately created a stir in the basketball world. You had three legends who have yet to win a championship ring, teaming up for one single objective.

Along with the big three, the Celtics also had young point guard Rajon Rondo. In addition, the team had veterans and defensive stalwarts in Tony Allen, Sam Cassell, Kendrick Perkins, and James Posey, among others.

In a previous interview, Rivers said that the 2008 Celtics roster was simply built to win. As per NBC Sports, Rivers said:

“…The thing I liked most about that team was, well, Kevin, Paul [Pierce] and Ray Allen were phenomenal, but if you look at that team, they had a bunch of instigator tough guys. Tony Allen, Leon Powe to [Big] Baby [Glen Davis] to Perk [Kendrick Perkins], James Posey. That team was built to win.

It was the 2008 squad that outlasted the Los Angeles Lakers led by a hungry Kobe Bryant. After they won a ring that year, the team would dominate the Eastern Conference for a few more years. Though they didn't exactly create a dynasty, the 2008 Celtics team is easily one of the best teams assembled in the history of the game.
