Boston Celtics small forward Jaylen Brown attended a few protests during the NBA hiatus following the tragic murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minnesota policemen.

Now, following the police shooting of Jacob Blake, Brown is itching to leave the Walt Disney bubble so he can protest yet again.

Unfortunately for Jaylen Brown, he won't be able to leave the bubble to protest. The Celtics are about to begin their second-round matchup against the Toronto Raptors, who are the defending champions.

However, it would be rather powerful if the Celtics and Raptors decide not to play and leave the bubble to protest. According to reports, the Raptors have had internal talks about boycotting Game 1 of their series against the Celtics on Thursday.

Toronto point guard Fred VanVleet had some powerful words on the subject, per Malika Andrews of ESPN.

“We knew coming here or not coming here was not going to stop anything, but I think ultimately playing or not playing puts pressure on somebody,” Raptors guard Fred VanVleet said after Tuesday's practice inside the NBA's bubble at the Walt Disney World Resort.

“So, for example, this happened in Kenosha, Wisconsin, if I'm correct? Would it be nice if, in a perfect world, we all say we're not playing, and the owner of the Milwaukee Bucks — that's going to trickle down. If he steps up to the plate and puts pressure on the district attorney's office, and state's attorney, and governors, and politicians there to make real change and get some justice.

“I know it's not that simple. But, at the end of the day, if we're gonna sit here and talk about making change, then at some point we're gonna have to put our nuts on the line and actually put something up to lose, rather than just money or visibility. I'm just over the media aspect of it. It's sensationalized, we talk about it every day, that's all we see, but it just feels like a big pacifier to me.”

It is certainly tough for players in the bubble to strictly focus on basketball when unarmed African Americans continue to get shot by policemen.

While it remains to be seen what the Celtics and Raptors will do, the players will likely make the most informative decision.
