Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown was among the many past and present NBA stars to attend Kobe and Gianna Bryant's memorial service on Monday at Staples Center.
The Celtics played the Lakers on Sunday and stayed in Los Angeles so players like Brown, Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum could attend the memorial:
“It’s unfortunate that everybody comes together for stuff like that, an unfortunate event,” Brown said, via MassLive.com. “But it was good to see people there. Met a lot of people I didn’t know. It was good for closure, for peace of mind. I’m glad we got to experience that.
“I think he’ll continue to be celebrated, and he won’t be forgotten. It makes you think about how you want to be remembered when you’re gone. Definitely a blessing to be able to experience that, especially with my teammates, and big prayers up to Kobe and his family.”
Brown and the Celtics are back in action on Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Celtics are 39-17 on the season. They are in third place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Brown is averaging 20.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game for the Celtics. He's shooting 49.6 percent from the field, 37.9 percent from beyond the arc and 73.7 percent from the free-throw line.
