At this point in his career, there is no doubt that Jayson Tatum has firmly established himself as one of the brightest young stars in the NBA today. The fact that he has led the Boston Celtics to the NBA Finals is a clear testament to this fact.

Be that as it may, Tatum himself admitted that there were certain periods during the season wherein he questioned himself. Earlier in the campaign, the Celtics were not the dominant force that they are today. Tatum knew that a lot was riding on his shoulders and at that point, he could not help but question his ability to lead the group:

“It has been tough moments because you hear all this talk of, ‘Can he be the best player on a championship team?'” said the Celtics star, via Malika Andrews of ESPN. “Nobody can until it's done. Nobody knows. Throughout the season, you get the new contract, you're supposed to be the guy, and you look up and you're three games under .500. It's hard… That was tough, just thinking to myself, ‘Why is it now working?' Putting in all the work and the effort. Doubt was creeping into your mind a little bit. ‘Am I good enough? Maybe I can't be.' But never losing faith, just believe in what you do, believe in the work that you put in, stay as close as you can with the group. It can't rain forever.”

This speaks volumes of how much self-belief Tatum has in himself. It also proves how much work he puts in. It's easy to give up when the odds are stacked so high against you but in the case of the Celtics superstar, Jayson Tatum just isn't built that way.
