Jayson Tatum was absolutely en fuego on opening night of the NBA play-in tournament. The Boston Celtics star dropped 50 points on the Washington Wizards and made it look easy while doing it too.
The Celtics swingman hilariously became the NBA play-in tournament's all-time leading scorer, after a whopping sample size of two games. The previous record-holders were Indiana Pacers second-year man Oshae Brissett and Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges, who both scored 23 points in the game prior.
Tatum was also a perfect 17 for 17 from the free throw line for the Celtics.

But don't be surprised if this record only lasts a day. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is an avid scoreboard watcher and was undoubtedly watching this Celtics-Wizards game before his own showdown against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Curry famously dropped 49 points in three quarters (he was pulled in the 4th) right after Bradley Beal scored 50 amid their heated scoring title battle.
Did Steph Curry already know Bradley Beal had 50 before his game tipped tonight?
"Of course I did."

Obviously, Curry isn't going to be motivated in chasing Tatum just for the sake of. The Warriors star hardly needs any added incentive to light up the scoreboard when he has a chance to upset LeBron James and the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.
But don't be surprised if Celtics star Jayson Tatum ends up being a 1-day record-holder with Stephen Curry out for blood on the 2nd day of the NBA play-in tournament
