Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum heard his name tossed about in trade talks ahead of this season's deadline. Most reports indicated that the C's were willing to offer the former No. 3 overall pick in a package deal for Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis — a plan that ultimately fell through.
Some players might feel a certain way about being included in trade scenarios, but Tatum isn't phased. In fact, he says he's willing to play for whoever wants him — be it Boston or another team.
“I’ll play basketball anywhere,” Tatum told The Athletic. “I’ll play for whoever wants me. That’s my job. I know I can’t control any of that stuff, so I’m not going to lose sleep over it. Trade talk doesn’t bother me.
“I’ll play for anyone.”

Tatum, now 20 years of age and in his second season of NBA service, would be a fine addition for any team. The Missouri native has made 60 appearances with the Celtics this season (all starts), racking up averages of 16.4 points on 45.6 percent shooting from the field (38.2 percent from beyond the arc), 6.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals in 31.2 minutes per outing.
Tatum also has two years remaining on his rookie-scale contract, which is an appealing factor for most teams.
The Celtics (37-23 and third in the Atlantic Division standings) are clearly in “win now” mode. However, they're currently riding the wave of a two-game losing streak. Their next shot at claiming a victory comes on Tuesday night, when they'll face the Toronto Raptors inside Scotiabank Arena. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. ET with TNT having live broadcast coverage.
