After missing the playoffs last season, Boston Celtics star point guard Kyrie Irving “can't wait” to play in the 2019 postseason.

Irving underwent season-ending knee surgery last season and wasn't able to compete in the postseason. He watched his Celtics go to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“Can’t wait,” Irving said Sunday, via Jay King of The Athletic. “Can’t wait. Just be great. It’s easy to do that when you put in the work and do what you’re supposed to do. Don’t let the pressure of the moment get the best of you and just go out there and hoop.”

The last time we saw Irving in the playoffs, he was playing in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017.

The Celtics will face the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs. Boston will have home-court advantage in the series. The Celtics went 3-1 against the Pacers in the regular season. Irving averaged 19.3 points and 4.0 assists versus Indiana in those games.

With Irving and Gordon Hayward healthy, the Celtics have the talent to go on a deep run. It has been an up-and-down season for Boston, but they have played better basketball to close out the season.
