Boston Celtics All-Star Kyrie Irving is using the last bit of his offseason to take a business course at Harvard University, according to a report from Nicole Yang of boston.com.

The semester-long program, which is called “Crossover Into Business,” is taught by Harvard Business School professor Anita Elberse. According to their own description, the course is designed to help professional athletes be more prepared for “business activities during and after their active sports careers.”

Irving, now 26 years of age, will team up with two of HBS’s MBA student mentors who will “develop their business acumen and empower them to make better business decisions.”

In an interview with boston.com earlier this summer, the Celtics guard noted that he would like to develop some of the other interests in his life, including business.

“When I am playing basketball or perfecting my craft, which comes with a lot of sacrifice, then the time that I’ve got outside of it, I’ll use to develop a lot of interests and passions that I have, to make up for that,” Irving said. “I feel like if I had the same amount of time that I was afforded [for basketball] to learn about business and investments, I think I’d probably be in a pretty different place.”

Several other professional athletes have enrolled in Elberse’s course, including former New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett, Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie, Detroit Pistons center Zaza Pachulia, and Denver Nuggets forward Paul Millsap.
