One day after arguably their biggest win of the season, the Boston Celtics will be without their best player in Kyrie Irving. The bright side:iIt's not like Brad Stevens' team has struggled of late when he's been sidelined.

The Celtics have announced that Irving will miss their game against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday with a left thigh contusion.

Irving scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished 11 assists and swiped two steals in 30 minutes of play during Boston's 128-95 victory over the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena on Tuesday. He didn't play a single minute of the fourth quarter as his team nursed a 29-point lead.

Neither Kyrie Irving nor Brad Stevens alluded to any injury or discomfort felt by the six-time All-Star after the game.

The Celtics were reeling before putting perhaps their most complete game of the season together against the two-time defending champions. They're still just 4-7 over the last 11 games, losing crucial ground in the race for home-court advantage in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Boston is now two-and-a-half games back of the fourth-place Philadelphia 76ers, meaning four games of a potentially epic first-round series between preseason conference favorites will be played at Wells Fargo Center.

The Beantown team could certainly make up ground on Wednesday against the Kings, in need of every win they can get to keep pace in the race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Boston is undefeated in the last six games it has played without Irving dating back to mid January.
