As the city of Boston welcomes the addition of Kyrie Irving to the Celtics, its residents have been posting their thoughts about the blockbuster trade on their social media accounts. Now, even the Red Sox’s minor league affiliate is getting into the act, and found a way to let Uncle Drew know that it is thrilled to have him represent its city.
Pawtucket, the MLB team’s Triple-A affiliate will be hosting a “Kyrie Irving Night” on Thursday, where fans wearing green or any Celtics gear will receive a free general admission ticket. They also have some other activities in line, and are even planning to charge fans double the price of admission if their names are like some of the players starring for the C’s rivals.

PawSox’s executive vice president and general manager Dan Rea spoke about the decision to host the event, and hopes it will add more hype to the arrival of Irving, via ESPN.
“We know how popular the Boston Celtics are throughout the area,” Rea said, “And we hope that our fans will enjoy an evening that trumpets Kyrie Irving's arrival.”
The 25-year-old Duke product will now have a chance to further establish himself as an elite player in the league, as he is expected to be the Celtics’ focal point on offense. However, the task becomes easier as he will also have a formidable supporting cast, as the team is loaded at every position, including his fellow All-Stars Gordon Hayward and Al Horford.
