During an appearance on the “Ellen” show on Tuesday, Boston Celtics small forward Jaylen Brown admitted he almost skipped the NBA restart at Walt Disney World.

Brown said he contemplated not playing in the bubble games so he could stay with his sick grandfather, who was diagnosed with cancer, via John Karalis of masslive.com.

Jaylen Brown went on to say that his grandpa is doing well as he continues to get treatment. Celtics nation is certainly happy to hear that bit of news.

Boston got all the way to the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals, where the team fell to the Miami Heat in six games. For his part, Brown averaged 21.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists in the 2020 playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors and Heat. The talented swingman also shot 47.6 percent from the field, 35.8 percent from beyond the arc and 84.1 percent from the free throw line.

With the Celtics' core intact for a while, Boston will certainly be a perennial playoff team moving forward. Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart and Brown are under contract for the long term and Jayson Tatum is expected to sign a rookie-scale extension this offseason.

Since getting drafted by the Celtics, Brown has compiled averages of 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in the regular season. While he has yet to make an All-Star team, that should change soon since Brown has improved his game year after year.
