The Boston Celtics were surprisingly quiet during the NBA trade deadline, as they were unable to make a splash as most pundits would have expected. While they missed out on the big names on Thursday, it looks like they are gearing up for their primary target all along: Andre Drummond.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski (as relayed by Keith Smith of Yahoo Sports), Boston has already leap-frogged several other suitors for the prized center after his buy-out with the Cleveland Cavaliers became official. The Celtics brass already met with the two-time All-Star and already talked shop about what his role with the team would be.

Considering the struggling Celtics still have one of the most promising cores in the league, it's not far-fetched to think Drummond would love to team up with All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in Beantown.

Furthermore, the 6-foot-10 behemoth is reportedly enamored with the big role the Celtics can offer him. While he'll have a higher chance of winning a title if he joins other contenders, the 27-year-old slotman wants the opportunity to showcase that he is still one of the best players in his position.

Word initially got out that Drummond was in Los Angeles during the deadline, raising speculations that he'll likely join the Lakers or the Clippers. The Brooklyn Nets, who just recently picked up Blake Griffin, was also believed to be another possible destination. Aside from the Celtics, other Eastern Conference teams like the New York Knicks and Charlotte Hornets are also in the running.

Drummond, obviously, has a lot to ponder about in the next 24 hours. Will he look good in Celtics green? We'll have to wait and see how this all plays out.
