Walker spent the first eight years of his career playing for the Charlotte Hornets. Last season, he averaged 25.6 points, 5.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. Unfortunately, the team didn't make the playoffs.
Initial reports indicated that Walker was interested in re-signing with the Hornets. He even said that he was willing to take less money to help the team build a more competitive roster. He was eligible to sign a five-year, $221 supermax extension with the team, but Charlotte wasn't even comfortable giving him the five-year, $190 million max contract.

Obviously, Walker didn't like this offer and immediately decided that it was time for him to move on from Charlotte. Even before free agency began, reports have already come out about him committing to a four-year deal with Boston. His $141 million deal with Boston is even less than what the Hornets offered, but Kemba believes that he has a bigger chance of winning with the Green Gang.
Throughout his career, Walker has only appeared in the playoffs twice, and he got eliminated in the first round in both occasions. He might be able to write a different story with the Celtics, as the team has a solid group of young players and veterans that is good enough to battle it out with the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
Walker is writing a new chapter in his career by choosing the Celtics. He dreams of becoming an NBA champion someday, and he hopes to be able to accomplish that in Boston.
