This is a swapping of two of the league's premier scoring point guards, who are both coming off their best individual campaigns. Irving is coming off a career-best year where he averaged a career-high 25.2 points on 47.3 shooting from the field and 40.1 percent from 3-point range along with 5.8 assists per game.
Meanwhile, Thomas averaged career-highs with 28.9 points on 46.3 percent shooting from the field along with 5.9 assists that helped him earn his second All-Star team selection and first All-NBA Second Team nod. The 28-year-old also set to enter the final year of his deal worth $6.3 million.
It could the entire landscape in the Eastern Conference with the Celtics finding their potential missing piece the puzzle to finally dethrone the Cavaliers, who have reached three consecutive NBA Finals. This also makes things quite interesting in Cleveland with that centering around LeBron James future with the team as Thomas is in the final year of his contract that should open the door to an interesting offseason next summer. If anything, this should make for an even more entertaining 2017-18 season.
