In the event that Anthony Davis ends up with the Boston Celtics, the big man stands firm that he won't sign a long-term deal with the team.

Additionally, if a trade does not ensue by tomorrow, then he'll gladly suit up for the New Orleans Pelicans for the rest of the season.

According to reports, the Celtics will likely make a run for Davis this summer. Among the teams in the NBA, the Celtics can easily arrange a trade package for the six-time All-Star.

But per Marc Stein of the New York Times, even if the deal pushes thru, Davis would be a one-year rental for the Celtics.

On top of nursing a finger injury and being placed on the trade block, Davis has missed the last seven games for the Pelicans.

According to reports, if a deal is not sealed by the Feb. 7 deadline, then he might be “shut down to an extent” for the remainder of the season at some point after the All-Star break.

Davis, for his part, has spoken recently about his situation. He acknowledges that it a tough situation, especially since the trade request came from him. But at the end of the day, he still wants to play.

“My intentions are to play,” Davis said last weekend, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. “I’ve been working to get my finger back healthy. Obviously, it’s a tough situation, but my intention is to still play and when I’m able to play, I plan on suiting up.”

The Lakers, the favorites to land Davis, have pulled out of negotiations and haven't heard back from the Pelicans since.
