Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant won't play in the 2021 NBA All-Star game next month due to a bothersome hamstring and has already been replaced by Domantas Sabonis of the Indiana Pacers. But as far as KD is concerned, he's still the captain of the ship.

ESPN's Rachel Nichols revealed on Saturday that the one-time NBA MVP intends to continue his duties as All-Star captain and pick players in the upcoming All-Star Draft on Thursday, alongside fellow All-Star captain Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

If Kevin Durant will be the one to pick his own team, he'll likely make the trip to State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. After all, his two Nets teammates Kyrie Irving and James Harden were also deservingly voted as All-Stars and will likely be repping Team Durant.

While that injury robbed fans of seeing KD in this year's festivities, it's still an amazing feat to see the two-time NBA champion get back to MVP-level after that harrowing Achilles tear in the 2019 NBA Finals.

In 19 games played for the Nets so far this season, Durant is putting up 29.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists while knocking down 52.4 percent of his field goals and 43.4 percent of his triples.

It will be interesting to see which players KD pick for his team in this year's strong pool. The Nets superstar will definitely need a bit of help from Lady Luck though, especially since LeBron has been dominating with his selections over the last few All-Star games.
