There aren't a lot of people that support Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving's COVID-19 stance, but John Salley is evidently one.
The 4-time NBA champion spoke to TMZ earlier this week and revealed that he believes Kyrie is making the right decision to not get vaccinated against the virus.
“I think Kyrie Irving is the premier athlete — professional,” Salley said. “I think he's conscious. I think he thinks it through. I think it's very important that people pay attention too, he's not into the lies, the glitz. He's into taking care of his body.”
Certainly a controversial opinion on the Nets star. While his point that Irving has the choice to do what he wants with his body, it may have cost Brooklyn a chance at winning an NBA title. The veteran only played in 29 games during the regular season because of his vaccination status and the whole saga disrupted the chemistry within the locker room.
Now, the Nets are reportedly unwilling to hand Kyrie a long-term extension, which could result in him turning down his player option this summer and hitting free agency. That could also mean Kevin Durant may leave NYC in the near future because the organization doesn't exactly have the cap space to sign another star to pair with KD.
Uncertain times are ahead in Brooklyn.
