There were a lot of firsts on Tuesday night's opener between the Brooklyn Nets and the Golden State Warriors. It was the first time where Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant finally stepped on the same court together as their duo ultimately handed the Nets their first win of the 2020-21 season. And, there was another huge first as rookie head coach Steve Nash was also able to snag his first win as an NBA coach.

Irving, who's one of the leaders of this young Nets squad took it upon himself to praise their new head tactician after a dominant opening night win against the Warriors. The former NBA champion was front and center in the locker room after the game to commend Nash.

ā€œThis is the start of something new right here.ā€ Irving said as he handed the game ball to his new head coach (via Bleacher Report). ā€œI'm grateful to have you as a coach. I'd go to war with you any day, Steve.ā€
