All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has been away from the Milwaukee Bucks after his father, Charles Antetokounmpo passed away on Friday night to take some personal time to deal with the unfortunate situation.

Antetokounmpo had announced on social media on Tuesday evening that he would be coming back to the Bucks.

He returned to the team on Wednesday morning to participate in his first practice since taking a personal leave. This also saw him miss the Bucks' first preseason game against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night. It is still quite a rough situation for Antetokounmpo losing his father, who had been an instrumental part of his young life.

The 22-year-old has developed into one of the rising stars in the NBA after coming off his most productive individual campaigns where he averaged career highs across the board with 22.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game earned him his first All-Star Game selection, the Most Improved Player award, and an All-NBA Second Team nod.

This also included him being only the fifth player in league history to lead his team in each of those five categories while being the first to place in the top 20 in each of those respective categories in a single season. Antetokounmpo has a chance to build upon that high level of production and possibly vie for an MVP award this upcoming season.
