The Boston Celtics have gotten out to a strong start holding one of the league's best records through almost halfway point this season.
However, the Celtics have had a glaring weakness on the boards ranking 13th overall in rebounding with just a 0.4 advantage in that department. This issue has begun to a bigger problem over the last week with the team dropping the last three of four games.
Following the Christmas Day loss to the Washington Wizards, former All-Star big man Al Horford addressed the topic stating it's an area of the game that he believes the Celtics must regain focus on, according to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe.
Horford on rebounding lapses: "I felt like guys were really, really focused [earlier in the year] and now here and there we have too many ‘my bads,’ and that’s a thing we need to address."

This was a huge factor against Washington as they held a 14-8 edge in the contest over Boston. In fact, the Celtics have had many issues with this ranking 22nd in the league with 8.6 offensive rebounds per contest while opponents are able to grab 9.6 boards.
The lack of consistency in this department has only become a larger issue due to the team's recent skid that has brought up questions about them truly being a title contender. They have fallen out of the top record in the Eastern Conference with the Toronto Raptors holding that title while being just a 1.5 games ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Ultimately, it's an area of the game that the Celtics must shift more focus over to help them get out of the current skid and get back on track.
