The NBA officially announced that Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James and Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry are the captains for the All-Star Game, but Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown has a different opinion.

Brown thinks that his teammate Kyrie Irving should have been captain.

“That's given. It's rightfully so,” Brown said of his teammate's selection as an All-Star starter, as per Celtics Wire. “He should be a captain as well. That's evident.”

Brown's comments are well-appreciated, but he has to remember that the player who has the most votes in his conference will be the captain for the All-Star game. That means that Irving will have to top his former teammate James in the voting in order to be the captain representing the Eastern Conference. That's quite a stretch.

But Brown isn't backing down. He continued to praise his All-Star teammate.

“He's been playing outstanding. Still the No. 1 seed in the East and we've still got a lot of room to grow . . . He's a great leader and he's a great person to be around, a teammate. I've never met somebody with so much status that's so humble. So everything that he gets is a credit to him.”

Indeed, Irving is playing outstanding for the Celtics this season. He is averaging 24.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and five assists. He is also one of the reasons why the Celtics continue to dominate the East despite losing Gordon Hayward from injury at the start of the season.
