Boston Celtics forward Marcus Morris has been fined $15,000 by the league office for verbal abuse of an official during a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday, according to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe.
Morris was hit with a technical as the Celtics' game turned into a blowout in the fourth quarter, at which point he approached an official to give him a piece of his mind upon the conclusion of the game, per the league report.
The Celtics have faced plenty of frustrations with so many of their players out to injury, but are practically locked into the No. 2 seed with only 12 games remaining in the schedule.
Boston could rest several of their key players for the rest of the regular season with a vast six-game lead over the third-place Cleveland Cavaliers. The road doesn't get any easier any time soon, as the Celitcs will face Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday without Kyrie Irving, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart, which could lead to even more frustration.
Morris wasn't be assessed a technical along with this fine, since it took place after regulation, but he's had seven of them in the season — the most on the team with Greg Monroe and Irving at four each.
