Twin brothers Marcus and Markieff Morris are set to make their season debut tonight after dealing with injuries and a suspension to start the season.
The Boston Celtics will bring Marcus off the bench against the Oklahoma City Thunder in limited minutes, around 20 or so, according to A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston. He's been dealing with a knee injury after being traded from the Detroit Pistons for shooting guard Avery Bradley in the offseason.
“He's been antsy to play now for a little bit,” said his coach Brad Stevens.
Asked if he found it curious that he and his twin would debut the same night, Marcus was his usual upbeat self.
“You got a better chance hitting the lottery than seeing this,” he joked.
His twin, Markieff, will make his debut after a one-game suspension served in a loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday after he left the bench during a scuffle between teammate Bradley Beal and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green last week.
Markieff had to be medically cleared to play from a sports hernia before serving his suspension, and can now look forward to joining an untouched starting rotation building off from last year's success, taking on the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers, who have lost four straight games coming into tonight.
The two twins played together throughout their entire basketball careers, including high school, AAU, college at the University of Kansas, and on the Phoenix Suns.
Both have become reliable stretch-fours with great athleticism and a high motor on the hardwood.
