Patrick Beverley is having quite a start to 2018. The L.A. Clippers guard announced on Twitter that he’s already gotten a workout done and is set to get off his crutches by Wednesday.
Beverley has been on crutches ever since he underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee as well as microfractuce surgery back on Nov. 22. The procedure is expected to rule Beverley out for the rest of the season.
Beverley is in his first season with the Clippers this season after he was acquired in the offseason deal that sent Chris Paul to Houston. The 29-year-old All-Defensive First Team selection played in 11 just games for the Clippers, averaging 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.73 steals and 30.3 minutes.
The Clippers suffered a rash of injuries early in the season, with fellow offseason acquisitions Milos Teodosic (22 games missed) and Danilo Gallinari (24 missed games) also missing time and star forward Blake Griffin (14 games missed) going down with a sprained MCL in his knee.
However, they managed to turn things around with Lou Williams and Austin Rivers leading the way in the backcourt. And while Beverley and Gallinari are still out, Blake Griffin’s return has made an immediate impact as the team has won its last two games with him back in the lineup and now find themselves just 1.5 games back of a playoff spot.
