The Dallas Mavericks will enter Game 2 of the NBA Finals trailing the Boston Celtics 1-0. Injuries are not expected to play a major role in Game 2, as only one player is listed on the NBA injury report between both teams. That player, however, is Luka Doncic.
Doncic has been listed on the injury report quite often throughout the postseason. Yet, he has not missed a game despite dealing with left ankle soreness and a right knee sprain. The Mavs star has continued to play at a high level amid the injuries as well, most recently dropping 30 points and 10 rebounds in the Game 1 defeat.
The expectation is that Doncic will be ready to go for Game 2. After all, he previously made it clear that he does not intend to miss any postseason games. The situation will still be something to monitor. We are obviously deep into the NBA campaign at this point, and one has to imagine that every player is feeling the effects of a long season.
Dealing with injuries on top of that does not help matters. Doncic, though, is a tough player who can find success despite the circumstances.
With all of that being said, Mavericks fans surely want to know the answer to the question of if Luka Doncic is playing in Game 2 vs. the Celtics.

Luka Doncic's injury status for NBA Finals Game 2 vs. Celtics

Doncic was initially listed as probable but was downgraded to questionable for Game 2 of the NBA Finals with his aforementioned ankle and knee injuries. Luka was also probable before Game 1 before being upgraded to available ahead of tip-off.

Luckily, Doncic has since been upgraded to available despite initial concerns about his availability.
As mentioned earlier, Doncic played well in Game 1. He did not receive enough help from his teammates in the contest, though. One has to imagine that Kyrie Irving will bounce back following his forgettable Game 1 effort.
The Mavs feature enough talent and depth to upset the Celtics. Game 2 is a crucial affair to say the least, though. Heading back to Dallas and trailing 2-0 would be far from ideal. Winning at least one game in Boston, however, would place the Mavericks in a respectable position.
Luka Doncic has an opportunity to cement his Mavericks legacy at just 25 years old. Many stars do not win their first championship until much later in their careers if they win at all. Winning a championship at such a young age would be an impressive feat without question.
The Mavericks have overcome adversity throughout the 2023-24 season. Additionally, the team has continued to upset the odds. It is difficult to count them out given their undeniable resiliency.
Game 1 was not the Mavericks' best effort. That goes without saying. But it would be shocking to see them get blown out again. Dallas is going to put up a fight at the very least.
Of course, having Doncic on the floor will help in that regard. When it comes to the question of if Luka Doncic is playing in Game 2 vs. the Celtics, the answer is YES.
