You won't see Dennis Smith Jr. wearing any other footwear brand other than Under Armour for the foreseeable future.

Earlier, it was reported that Smith was close to sealing a deal with Under Armour and it didn't take long for that to be officially realized with details about the contract starting to pour in. According to Nick DePaula of ESPN, sources have told him that Under Armour is bound to pay Smith at least $2 million per year over the course of the Dallas Mavericks guard's three-year contract with the sports apparel company.

In the same article, it was also noted by DePaula that Under Armour already had its eyes on Smith as early as 2015, when Kris Stone, the company's pro basketball sports marketing director, first had a glimpse of then high school phenom Smith.

“The first time that I saw Dennis Smith at camp was when Stephen ran out of the gym after he tried to dunk on somebody,” Stone said with a laugh. “Dennis got so high — his elbow was at the rim. It was unbelievable. That was my first time experiencing what Dennis can bring to the table in terms of explosiveness. The reaction that Stephen had was ridiculous. Stephen was coming off of an MVP season and an NBA championship, and here he is, watching a high school kid own the moment and respecting it.”

It's not just Under Armour's executives, who have made a bet on Smith though, as the Mavericks are also putting their confidence on the North Carolina State product to carry the team back into an elite title contenders status again.
