The Dallas Mavericks continue to roll, winning eight of their last 10 games. That has them in fifth place in the West. On Saturday night, Luka Doncic and Co. will be facing the Charlotte Hornets on the road after a 10-point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. Spencer Dinwiddie, who came over to the Mavs at the trade deadline, has been a fantastic addition. But on the tail-end of a back-to-back, is Spencer Dinwiddie playing vs Hornets?
Is Spencer Dinwiddie Playing vs Hornets
The answer is no, Dinwiddie will not suit up here because of injury management for his knee, per Marc Spears:
Mavs say Spencer Dinwiddie (right knee) will miss tonight’s game in Charlotte.

Of course, he was sidelined for all but three games of the 2020-21 campaign because of an ACL injury and eventually returned this season with the Washington Wizards. Things didn't go to plan in DC, which resulted in him being traded to the Mavs for Kristaps Porzingis.
Since landing in Dallas, Dinwiddie has been playing some of the best basketball of his life. He's averaging 17.5 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.2 dimes on a 40% clip from downtown alongside Luka, giving Jason Kidd another legitimate ball-handler in his backcourt.
Most notably, Dinwiddie hit back-to-back game-winning triples against the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics recently, handing the Mavs two huge victories. Honestly, Dallas is looking like more of an all-around threat with Dinwiddie as Doncic's running mate instead of Porzingis. He fits seamlessly into Kidd's rotation. Expect Jalen Brunson to get even more minutes on Saturday with Dinwiddie out, another offensive weapon.
This is a smart move by the Mavs to give him a rest day because ultimately, Dinwiddie needs to be in tip-top shape when the playoffs come. So to answer the question, is Spencer Dinwiddie playing tonight? The answer is no. He'll likely be back in the lineup on Monday against the Timberwolves, though.
