Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle says he greatly appreciated the Mavs players for organizing their own bonding session this offseason.

Carlisle, who is now in his 12th year as the Mavs' head coach, believes that the initiative the players showed is a great way to develop chemistry. For him, it proves that the entire team is locked in for the 2019-20 season.

“That’s a great step toward getting closer together, learning about each other,” Carlisle said, per Callie Caplan of The Dallas Morning News. “And it’s pretty clear that these guys see the challenge of this season as something that they want to take on together, which is the way it’s going to have to be in the West.”

The last time the Mavs qualified for the playoffs was in the 2015-16 season. It's just a few years but considering how successful the organization has been in the past two decades, that time span is a lifetime for their dedicated fans.

Now, Dallas has a good chance at contending for a playoff spot in the Western Conference. They have their two young stars in Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis to lead the way. Moreover, they have veteran guard JJ Barea, Tim Hardaway Jr., and several key additions such as Seth Curry, Boban Marjanovic and Delon Wright, among others.

It's a relatively new squad, but one that is more than capable of making waves in the NBA.
