Luka Doncic, the third pick in the NBA Draft, was sent to the Dallas Mavericks. As such, Mavs coach Rick Carlisle welcomed the 19-year-old to their team, showering him with praise along the way.
As per Tim MacMahon of ESPN, Carlisle said that Doncic's skills are pretty refined for his age. He added that they will further hone his body for the long season in the NBA:
Rick Carlisle says Luka Doncic’s skills are “very refined for a kid who is 19,” but he thinks Doncic can make major strides with strength training. “We’ve got to prepare him for the long haul.”

Prior to being selected, Doncic admitted that the Mavs already spoke with him. He claimed that while the Mavs were really nice and friendly to him, he was just grateful to be part of the occasion. He said, via ESPN:
“[The Mavericks have] been talking to me,” Doncic said on the broadcast after being selected. “They were so nice to me. And I'm glad, you know? Just happy to be in the NBA. Just happy to be a part of that.
“I mean, you know, I have a lot of ex-NBA players on my team. I've played against a lot of ex-NBA players, and I've had some great teammates. They taught me so much. Especially the NBA players, they've been talking to me about the NBA like this whole year … they knew I was coming. So, I think I'm prepared.”
Doncic started playing professional ball at the tender age of 13 in the Euroleague. At 19, he was heralded as the league's youngest MVP. Analysts have tagged him as the most NBA-ready among all prospects. Now that he's finally made it, let's see how he fares.
