Once again, Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle found himself scratching his head after another tough loss. This time, it was against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. The Mavs were blown out by 31 points at home.
According to the former champion coach, Dallas was lured into playing the Warriors' game and tried to outshoot them. We all know that this isn't the best idea against a Warriors squad that has Steph Curry on the court.
“The big problem in this game was our defense, obviously,” Carlisle said (via Brad Townsend of Dallas Morning News). “We got seduced into a shootout with these guys (Warriors).”
"This is a difficult lesson," Carlisle says of getting "seduced" into playing Golden State's type of game.

Coming into the game, the Mavs just averaged 36 three-point attempts per outing. On Thursday, they hosted a shootout party for the visiting Dubs and shot 20-50 from deep. Unfortunately for them, the Warriors shot it the three at a more efficient clip.

Golden State was 22-43 from distance with their two-time MVP accounting for four of those. Kelly Oubre, Jr. also finally broke out from his shell for the Warriors with a career-high of 40 points while knocking down seven threes.
For the Mavs, it was the usual suspects as Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis continue to carry the load. Luka had a team-high of 27 points while Porzingis added in 25 and knocked down five triples against the Warriors.
Defense has been the problem for this Mavericks squad ever since their young point guard took charge. The front office tried to address this by bringing in Josh Richardson and James Johnson to the team this season but it hasn't really worked wonders for Carlisle and Dallas. The Warriors added to their misery on Thursday.
These young Mavs have to put their heads down and stay the course and hope that things finally turn around sooner rather than later, but with Draymond Green dropping nearly 20 dimes, Dallas ran into a juggernaut.
