Detroit Pistons All-star big man Andre Drummond is a hulking inside presence known for elite level glass cleaning and shot blocking. Making a living in the paint ever since he started his career, it would be hard to fathom the former 9th overall pick to start extending his range since he is an atrocious career free throw shooter at 54 percent.

With the new coaching hire in the Motor City, former Toronto Raptors head coach Dwayne Casey, there are might be a few things we might get to see with the young two-time All-star.

According to Rod Beard of The Detroit News, Drummond will showcase a new facet of his offense, three-point shooting. Drummond may have wild things in store for us this season as he addressed some of them in a media day interview. Drummond admits that he's been working on three-pointers his whole career, and now, it appears it might be time to start shooting them.

It’s something I’ve worked on my entire career and it’s not something I’m going to start jacking up randomly.

There are going to be opportunity 3s and he’s given me the green light to shoot it if someone backs off me.

My free throws are going to continue to get better; I made a great jump from last season. I’ve had (the 3-pointer) for six years, but never had a coach that allowed me to shoot it. It’s something I’ve worked on consistently for a long time. Now is my time to really showcase it.

For somebody who has only attempted 30 three-pointers in his career and making just five, this experiment may be as wild as it seems. If Dwayne Casey is going to give the 25-year-old rebounding savant Valanciunas-like rights on the court, better to start now than later. Whether it will work or not is a good enough reason to keep an eye out for the Pistons this season.
