It did not take long for news to reach Andre Drummond that he will share the Detroit Pistons frontcourt with Blake Griffin. This comes after the former L.A. Clippers forward was shipped to The Motor City in exchange for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic and a first-round pick. The season’s current rebounding leader then took to his Instagram account to welcome his new teammate.

The 24-year-old Connecticut product posted a photo of him defending Griffin in one of their matchups before and captioned it by calling him a “true friend of the crown” before welcoming him to Detroit.

Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin are now slated to form one of the most intimidating frontcourts in the whole of the NBA. With their ability to dominate inside the paint, they will cause a lot of problems for their opponents, while also making it difficult for them to score close to the basket. In 33 games this season, Griffin is averaging  22.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 34.5 minutes, while Drummond is having a solid year as well with 14.7 points, 15.1 rebounds 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks in 33.1 minutes per game.

It’s still unknown if the two will already share the court together on Tuesday when the team goes up against the Cleveland Cavaliers. One thing that’s certain though is that the Detroit faithful cannot wait to see them play as teammates and lead the Pistons to more success moving forward and even possibly bring the franchise’s glory days back.

The Pistons are on the outside looking in of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference standings, as they own the ninth spot in the conference with a 22-26 record.
