Derrick Rose's role with the Detroit Pistons is pretty simple: come into the game and get buckets.
For the second straight season, Rose is in the Sixth Man of the Year Award conversation. The former MVP didn't want to come to the Pistons and “step on any toes” since it's his first season with the team.
However, Rose says his Pistons teammates and coaches are telling him to stay aggressive at all times:

I don't want to step on any toes,” Derrick Rose said, via Will Gottlieb of Bleacher Report. “I want to come in and make it a comfortable transition. My coach and teammates are making sure it's a good transition along the way, and they're communicating to me and letting me know that it's alright for me to play the same way.”
The Pistons are widely expected to trade All-Star center Andre Drummond before the February trade deadline. Detroit also lost Blake Griffin to another left knee surgery on Tuesday, so it’s looking likely that he misses the rest of the season.
The Pistons are 14-24 on the season, putting them in the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference standings. However, Detroit is only three games back of the Brooklyn Nets for the eighth and final playoff spot after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday.
Could the Pistons make a run at the playoffs with Rose leading the way? It’s possible given how good he has been this season, but we have to wait and see what type of return Detroit gets for Drummond assuming a trade goes down.
Rose has appeared in 32 games for the Pistons this season. He's averaging 17.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists while shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 33.0 percent from beyond the arc and 87.8 percent from the free-throw line.
