As we approach the 2019 NBA Trade Deadline, more and more names pop up as potential trade bait. Detroit Pistons power forward Blake Griffin has become one of those possible trade chips. As Detroit tries to figure out whether they will be buyers or sellers at the deadline, scouts attempted to put a set trade value on Griffin.

Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reported what the league had to say on Griffin's games, and there was a mixed reaction:

“I took an informal poll of NBA scouts Thursday before the Pistons’ 93-89 victory over the trade-ravaged Dallas Mavericks: What is Griffin's trade value? The poll of four scouts yielded varying results. At one end, an Eastern Conference scout didn’t express much interest in Griffin, saying his post-up game isn’t made for today’s game. A Western Conference scout disagreed vehemently. He said the Pistons could expect to land two first-round picks if they were to make Griffin available. I agree with the latter.”

The team is in a difficult position already. They can attempt to acquire a third star to make a run at one of the bottom seeds in the Eastern Conference, but it'd be a longshot. Or, they can trade their best player and start a full rebuild.

Griffin is averaging 26.2 points per game this season, as well as 8.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists. He has become one of the better stretch fours in the league, shooting 36 percent from behind the arc.

The former number one pick was just named to his sixth All-Star game, and his trade value is high. Will the Pistons ship him out before he can help the team to even one playoff series? Only time can tell.
