Detroit Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy is serious about basketball, and he isn't afraid to send the message to his players.

Center Andre Drummond was benched for most of the second half against the Brooklyn Nets in a disappointing blowout loss on Wednesday night.

Van Gundy didn't stop there as he gave some stark thoughts on Drummond when asked about benching him, per Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.

“We gave him the first half and the first seven minutes in the second half, and he was just, in my opinion, bringing absolutely nothing to the game. I don't know if he was tired or what the deal was, but he didn't bring any energy to the game.”

It's not uncommon to hear Van Gundy unfiltered, but he was was correct in his assessment.

Drummond struggled in his 25-minute stint scoring six points on 3-of-9 shooting, while allowing Brook Lopez to have a career night scoring with 34 points, including four makes from beyond the arc.

The Pistons big man hasn't played to his usual level of dominance, and is averaging 12.6 points so far this year, his lowest since his rookie season.
