The Los Angeles Dodgers were rumored to be in the market for a right-handed hitting outfielder after the rib injury to superstar Mookie Betts, which resulted in his placement on the 10-day injured list. Later on Monday, the Dodgers found their guy. Los Angeles completed a trade for Detroit Tigers outfielder Trayce Thompson, the brother of Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Thompson will serve as a reinforcement with Betts on the injured list. The brother of the Warriors sharpshooter, Thompson was raking at the Tigers' Triple-A affiliate in Toledo, as he had posted a 1.085 OPS with 17 home runs.

The right-handed hitting minor leaguer comes with some MLB experience, which should serve the Dodgers well. The 31-year-old has bounced around, spending 12 seasons in the minors. It's a big day for the Thompson family.

Klay Thompson's Warriors won the NBA Finals, their fourth in the past eight seasons. Then, Trayce Thompson gets another taste of big-league action in 2022, this time with the Dodgers.

While he's unlikely to start every day, Thompson will be swinging a hot bat when he arrives in Los Angeles, which should help the club make up for the loss of Betts.
